About Me: Kevin – Your Outdoor Friend
Hey there, I’m Kevin, the guy at Campfire Compass.
Let me share a bit about myself and why I’m so passionate about helping you explore the great outdoors.

Finding My Path:
Growing up in a suburb, I was always drawn to the woods behind me. Literally, behind my house were woods and fields that a church never broke ground on. It wasn’t huge, it was about 10 acres, but to the neighborhood kids and I it was an escape from parents, rules, and worries.
Whether we were playing manhunt (reverse hide and seek), building forts, or talking about mean teachers, there was always something peaceful but still exciting waiting around every corner.
As I got older, I outgrew “playing.” I lost touch with the outdoors like most people do.
With a career in retail in my 20s, that became exceedingly stressful year after year, it wasn’t until 26 that I realized that what was gone, and if I wanted it back I had to get outside and take it. Just like I did when I was a kid. It wasn’t going to come to me.
Camping and hiking became a “non-negotiable” for me. Without having that time to decompress and detach from everything else, I would find myself drowning, overloaded in a pit of my own exhaustion.
Now that I’m in my mid 30s, out of retail, and get to travel from time to time a new and exciting place. I’ve also developed some of my own stomping grounds, as well as been able to reconnect with one or two old ones too!
So no matter where you are with connecting with the outdoors, truly seasoned, or still in the “Googling” stages, I’m here because I want to help and support every step of the way.
