You can secure the entire knife itself by placing the wrapped knife in a plastic food container or thermos that you will be taking on your camping trip anyway. This doesn’t just secure the blade from cutting someone or something, but also prevents the knife from being damaged in transit.

I say “plastic food container” instead of glass to prevent more sharp items on my camping trips.

- If I’ve secured the blade well, and really trying not to overpack, I’ll throw my knife in my hiking boots, with some socks inside preventing the knife from falling out, and tie the laces shut!
- Pots & Pans with a Lid
- Just like the food containers above, if you’re packing a pot with a lid anyway you can secure the knife blade with clothes and rubber bands, and toss it into a lidded pot.
- Just make sure to secure the lid with some tape or rubber bands.
Other Sharps Camping Safety
